September 20th,
2008 Libraries for Peace Project volunteers, along with
help and book donations from Global Book Exchange of Novato, loaded two 20-foot
containers of books for shipment to Lebanon. The books
arrived at the port of
Beirut October 9, 2008.
They were released
immediately and transported to a
warehouse in a newly built school in Soufar, Lebanon. From there, the books
were distributed to over 150 schools throughout the region. The
impact of this
delivery was realized immediately. After
a 12,000 mile journey, the precious
cargo of100,000 +
books are in the
hands of those who need them most.
Why Books?
The mission of the Libraries
for Peace Project is to bring educational materials to children of the
Middle-East beginning with Lebanon and expanding from there to
surrounding countries. It
is the
belief of the LFPP that
exchanging books for bombs will make peace not only possible, but
eminent. The next goal for Libraries for Peace Project is
to complete
a computer lab in Lebanon within the
next year. Please help us achieve this goal with your donation.

For Peace Project

books at
the Grade School in Soufar, Lebanon.
The
100,000 + books range from texts to dictionaries to
encyclopedias to novels and will provide the much needed tools for a
pathway to
peace.
As a result of the LFPP fund
raiser and several generous private
donations, the mission is accomplished. On to the next phase!
The
children of the Middle East need your
help!
With each of
your donations,
peace in the Middle East gets a little closer.
Make
the
decision to help now so that these youngsters
will have a say in their future and in the future of the rest of the
world.
In October of
2008, president of Libraries
For Peace Project, Aref
Ahmadia,
fulfilled a dream towards his visionary goal: to make certain that
every
child in Lebanon,
and later, the entire Mid-East, has a dictionary and a start in the
quest for
knowledge.
This non-political and
non-religious offering to the people of Lebanon and the Mid-East comes
at a
time when education is key to the peace process. Libraries for Peace Project has
been working towards
a non-violent means to assist the people of Lebanon and the Mid-East
achieve
peace they so urgently deserve.

future. Their recent delivery of 100,000 books to Lebanon
